THE LIVELIHOOD AFFECTED BY MARINE ENVIRONMENTAL INCIDENTS IN FOUR PROVINCES OF CENTRAL VIETNAM: CASE OF COMPENSATION CASH’S USES BY PEOPLE IN TRIEU PHONG AND GIO LINH DISTRICTS, QUANG TRI PROVINCE

Abstract

The marine environmental incident of Forrmosa in 2016 has caused servere social and economic damage to four provinces in Central Vietnam, including Quang Tri. Through the results of the investigation and survey of the status of people's livelihood before and after this marine environmental incident occurred in Trieu An commune, Trieu Phong district and in Cua Viet town, Gio Linh district, Quang Tri province, the article presents issues such as: (1) People's life before and after marine environmental incident; (2) The impact of compensation, support for marine environmental incidents on the lives of people. On that basis, the article provides some comments and recommendations to help improve the effectiveness of the assistance and compensation for similar environmental incidents.
