CHANGES OF FAMILY’S STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION AMONGST CHO RO ETHNIC PEOPLE IN DONG NAI PROVINCE IN THE INDUSTRIALIZATION CONTEXT

Abstract

Under the impact of socio-economic change and integration, the change taking place in the family is an inevitable trend. The article discusses the change in family structure and function in Chau Ro people in TucTrung commune, Dinh Quan district, Dong Nai province. The Chau Ro family structure tends to change from multi-generational to nuclear families; freedom of marriage and openness in marrying other ethnic groups and different religions are increasingly popular and easily accepted. In addition, the process of living with the Kinh people, along with migrating to other places, especially in big cities to study and work has changed the economic, cultural, educational functions of the Chau Ro family.
