THE STATE OF AFFAIRS OF READING AMONGST STIENG-ETHNIC GRADE-1 SCHOOLCHILDREN IN BINH PHUOC PROVINCE (Survey in five locations of Primary School Ngo Quyen, Bu Gia Map District)

Abstract
Survey results of the reading competencies of 60 Stieng first graders and 60 Kinh first graders (semester 1 – school year 2020-2021) from a primary school in Bu Gia Map district, Binh Phuoc province show that the number of Stieng students who can barely read is relatively high (especially, some students have not yet been able to read); while the number of Kinh students in the same class who can barely read is significantly less. Hence, where the causes come from and which solution is needed to overcome this situation are the matters that will be discussed in the article.
