THERAVADA BUDDHISM’S CONCEPTION OF HUMAN NATURE
Keywords:
Buddhism, the eightfold Path, human, liberation, suffering
Abstract
Stemming from the movement against Brahminism, along with Lokayata and Jaina, Buddhism had its different approach and interpretation to human issues than the traditional thought from Vedas in India. Buddhism argued the world as impermanent and non-self; human beings are made up of the five aggregates, hence appearance or disappearance is due to causes and conditions. The article uses a materialist dialectic approach, combined with analytical and synthetic methods to clarify this point of view.
