THE IMPACT OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC ON FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT ACTIVITIES IN HO CHI MINH CITY

Abstract

The complicated situation of the COVID-19 pandemic for a long period has significantly affected the activities of foreign direct investment enterprises (FDI) in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC). At the same time, the amount of new investment capital projects of FDI enterprises has decreased sharply in the past two years, which has directly impacted the economic and social development of the City. On the basis of analysing the current status of FDI in HCMC, the article poses some problems in attracting  foreign  direct  investment  in  the  coming  time.  Thereby,  giving  some recommendations on how to attract FDI effectively in the context of socioeconomic development in HCMC.
