Abstract
The Southern region of Vietnam has a dense system of rivers, during the exploitation process, the French colonialists took full advantage of this feature by upgrading the waterway and road transport infrastructure. Because of this, riverboats have been converted into “bac” or ferries with higher efficiency. For more than a century, ferries have played an important role in serving people’s lives and at the same time creating the characteristics of the Southern river cultural region.
