INFLUENCE OF CONFUCIANISM ON COLLECTIVISM AND HIERARCHICALISM IN KOREAN CORPORATE CULTURE IN HO CHI MINH CITY

Abstract

Confucianism significantly affects Korean corporate culture. The research applies systematic and interdisciplinary approaches to explore the Confucian influence on hierarchism and collectivism in Korean corporate culture in Ho Chi Minh City show that Korean companies have a hierarchical organizational structure, patriarchal leadership method, hierarchical behavior culture, and an emphasis on harmony and loyalty. This paper explains the similarities and differences between Korean and Vietnamese corporate cultures and the adjusting efforts from both sides to reduce cultural misconceptions, improve cultural integration and the effective performance of Korean companies in Vietnam.
