THE LAND OF AN GIANG IN THE STRATEGY OF MAINTAINING THE BORDER SECURITY AREA DURING THE REIGN OF KING MINH MANG

Abstract

The article examines and clarifies the crucial role that An Giang territory played in King Minh Mang's (1820 - 1841) policy of protecting Cochinchina's sovereignty and upholding the safety of the country's western and southwestern boundaries. Following Gia Long's policies, King Minh Mang further fortified An Giang's defences, turned this location into the West Citadel's base, and prepared to send reinforcements to Ha Tien Province whenever border security was required during this period.
