Abstract

Oc Eo - Ba The (An Giang province) is an important archaeological site of Oc Eo culture in the Southern Vietnam with many types of sites, including religious brick architecture in Go Sau Thuan. Previously, the dating of these architectures was estimated by comparison studies in a large range of dating. Meanwhile, the reliability of radio carbon dating from organic material samples in the cultural layers is low because they are not directly related to architecture. Recently, the application of an improved thermoluminescence dating method combined with measuring the cumulative dose of Gamma radiation from the environment to architectural bricks has brought positive results with the resulting dating accuracy of less than 5%, enough to identify the chronological difference between construction and reconstruction dates in ancient times. This method has made an important contribution to the identification and consideration of the construction and reconstruction model that was launched in 2020 about ancient architectures in the Go Sau Thuan site.
