HOUSEHOLD ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES IN THE SOUTHWEST BORDER AREA

Abstract

The Southwestern border region holds an important geopolitical position in terms of exchange and integration, with the goal of achieving long-term socioeconomic development while also ensuring national security and defence. The study uses qualitative and quantitative survey data to examine household economic activities in eight communes/wards/towns with border gates in the Southwest border region. Diachronic and synchronous lines are used to identify the interaction and association of households in this region in terms of production, business, and service provision. According to survey results, household economic activities in the Southwest border region vary in terms of agricultural and non-agricultural livelihoods, as well as specific methods of livelihood. As a result, local governments must implement appropriate economic development and labour training policies to promote the region's potential and resources.
