ENDOGENOUS RESOURCES IN THE FIELD OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT IN VIETNAM
Abstract
Utilizing quantitative and qualitative survey data collected in 2022 across four provinces/cities in Vietnam, the article examines the current state of public participation in charitable activities and the role of local charitable organizations. The research findings indicate that: (i) individuals in the Northern and Central provinces and cities primarily engage in charitable activities at the behest of local authorities. In the Southern provinces and cities, informal organizations engaged in charitable activities have fostered a general spirit of charity among the population; (ii) alongside contributions mobilized by the state and socio-political organizations, there is a notable trend of individuals opting to make charitable contributions through local informal networks, which also generate substantial resources. Based on an analysis of the current situation, the article proposes solutions to enhance the utilization of endogenous resources in community development in Vietnam.
