Abstract

The article analyses the Confucian concept of kingship, focusing on the relationship between self-cultivation and personal moral perfection, as well as the relationship with subjects, including the mandarins and the populace. The Confucian concept of kingship significantly influenced the development of governance ideology and the pacification of the population, as articulated by Confucian scholar Le Thanh Tong. He embodied Confucian standards of kingship during his 38-year reign, which significantly contributed to the most prosperous period of Vietnamese feudal society in the 15th century.
