HIGHER EDUCATION AND REALISTIC EMPLOYMENT – A Study of Social-Science Majors in Ho Chi Minh City

Abstract

The topic of university education and realistic employment in Viet Nam is attracting the attention of many researchers and society. Concerning the compatibility between university education and realistic employment, this article focuses on clarifying a number of problems such as: the main criteria that students follow when choosing majors/universities; the level of fulfillment of training facilities; study and research performance of students; the ratio of students getting jobs corresponding to their majors; and barriers in realistic employment. Base on the research, this article gives some recommendations on undergraduate training in major groups I, III, and VII and realistic employment.
