CHINESE-SCRIPT NEWSPAPERS IN SAIGON DURING THE FIRST HALF OF THE 20TH CENTURY

Abstract

The paper outlines some features of the Chinese-script newspapers in Saigon during the first half of the 20th century, based on local and overseas documents that mention the policy of the French colonial government with respect to newspapers generally and Chinese-script newspapers particularly at that time. It, therefore, contributes partly to the source of research works on social and cultural activities of Chinese people in Saigon.
