Abstract

Promoting sustainable development of Vietnam’s fisheries industry is an important direction in the Strategy for Sustainable Development of Vietnam's Marine Economy to 2030, with a Vision to 2045. Sustainable development of the fisheries industry will contribute to solve economic, social and environmental issues. The fisheries industry has been making many contributions to Vietnam’s economic development, but there are also many problems arising from the exploitation, consumption and management of aquatic resources as well as protecting sovereignty over seas and islands, etc. This article studies the status and the policies for development of Vietnam’s fisheries industry. From there, the article proposes some solutions to promote sustainable development of the fisheries industry, contributing to the development of the blue ocean economy in Vietnam.
