Abstract

After the Trump administration officially announced a shift to a model of great power competition in 2017, US-China competition and US-Russia competition have become major current issues of concern to the world. The US-China competition is a symmetric strategic competition that often receives more attention, while the US-Russia competition is an asymmetric strategic competition that receives less attention, but it is no less important. The article points out that the US-Russia competition not only bears the characteristics of great power competition but also has more special ones, which is a strategic competitive relationship. The competition exerts major impacts on regions and the whole world, requiring countries to adapt and adjust their strategies in a flexible manner.
