Abstract

The result of classification, restoration, and research of tiles from the Early Lê dynasty at the Thăng Long Imperial Citadel conducted by the Institute of Imperial Citadel Studies during 2021-2022 had shown that the decoration on palace tiles of thisdynasty was rich and diverse with various themes. The dragon decoration on ceramic tiles and tiles has been discovered at the roof drip, roof sheeting and roof ridge that is the majority with numerous artifacts. Based on the archaelogical research methods, this article clarifies the distinctive of the dragon decoration on drip tile. These artifacts are a valuable source of material that not only contributes to the study of architectural art forms but also researchs on architectural materials, fine arts, history, religion, etc.
