About recycling methods and reuses of mineral industry wastes

Abstract

Large amounts of wastes are always generated in the processes of mining, beneficiation and processing of minerals. Mineral wastes of the world in general, and of Vietnam in particular, are one of the biggest challenges for the environment. If not managed properly, these types of wastes can cause irreversible damages to the environment and constitute hazards to the human kind. However, environmental challenges of mineral wastes may be completely solved if mining, beneficiation and processing industries are to integrate to form a complete circular economy in order to develop "zero-waste" production processes through recycling and reuse of wastes of the mineral industry. In other words, wastes from the mineral industry must be considered as secondary resources with true economic values. This report presents an overview of the researches and new trends in mineral waste recycling and reuse around the world. From the reviews, the report provides orientations for sustainable development of mining and mineral processing industry of Vietnam.
