Combination of mine reclamation and forest economy development in coal mines waste dump- Its reality and potentiality in Quang Ninh coal area
Abstract
Mine reclamation is the final step of any mineral exploitation and processing after mining in order to reclaim landscape and ecosystem of the mined area according to regulated current regulations. For a long time, the green cover on the waste dump of coal mines had been made through popular experiences or by self-restoration. Since the year of 2004, Vietnam Coal Corporation (Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin) now) started to make studies and application of eco-forestry technics to reclaim and plant tree on coal mines waste dumps, these focus on structure, soil, eco-forestry of waste dumps and technics of planting tree. Many studies were carries out with the cooperation of foreign experts for some matters without precedent that the Vietnam Coal Sector cannot master such as deacidification of waste rock, planting tree in special conditions. Up to present, the target of planting tree on the waste dump is simply to make a green cover to intensify its slope stability and improve the landscape. The use purpose of some areas of the waste dump after reclamation has been converted into areas with higher economic value. The implementation of the circle economy on planting tree and making green cover on the waste dump is still a policy. However, the Coal Sector has also the start to apply this to could maximum exploit its economic potential, to create more new product and jobs for miners and community after ending the mineral mining project for the sustainable
development of the Coal and Mineral Sector attached to the environmental protection and improving the social welfare.
