Abstract

The current energy transition, also referred to as "Energy Transition in the 21st Century" is a unique process. Taking place against the backdrop of climate change, it involves numerous differences—and even contradictions—in its definitions, perspectives, implementation processes, and the reality versus expectations. Therefore, to fully understand what is occurring, one must begin with the concept, context, examine key trends, assess the current situation, compare it to the demands and expectations, identify major contradictions, and then analyze them in order to develop suitable orientations.

The contradictions, once analyzed, reveal that the aforementioned energy transition is a complex process fraught with risks. It continues to raise a series of issues related to the environment, equity between rich and poor nations, the divide between beneficiary and vulnerable communities, and the emergence of new power structures.

Based on these insights, the article proposes an approach and some preliminary solutions for the energy transition process in Vietnam.
