Fire in Metro tunnels - World’s experiences and lessons for Vietnam

Abstract

Fires in metro tunnels are not only a danger to passengers, people, and train equipment, but also a danger to the tunnel structure and the operation of the metro system. In Vietnam today, the trend of construction and development of underground spaces, including underground works for transportation, especially the urban subway system, is getting more and more attention. The process of fires will lead to system disruption of passenger transportation in cities, which requires consideration of fire protection requirements during the construction and operation of the system. The article introduces the causes of fires in metro tunnels and proposes options and solutions to minimize the impact of fire on the construction and operation of this superior transportation system.
