Abstract

Currently, in Vietnam, only three urban railway lines are being built, of which two lines in Hanoi: Cat Linh - Ha Dong (line 2A), Nhon - Hanoi Station (line 3) and a line in Ho Chi Minh City: Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien (line 1). The Cat Linh - Ha Dong line has been put into operation since November 2021, the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station (Nhon - Cau Giay elevated section) is preparing to be put into operation in July 2024, the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien line is expected to be put into operation at the end of 2024. Urban railway projects in Vietnam are all implemented by foreign contractors who are only responsible for construction and then handover to Vietnam for operation. Testing some basic features related to operational safety such as the starting and rescue ability of trains, determining and evaluating operation criteria in Vietnam are still completely new and need to be researched.

The article presents a general theoretical basis for testing the starting and rescue ability of metro trains on the ruling gradient, thereby testing the starting and rescue ability of metro trains on the Cat Linh - Ha Dong line on a ruling gradient of 30‰ in some different load modes of trains.

The research results are a reference basis for managers and users in determining and evaluating the safety criteria of metro trains in operation.
