Updated checklist of Araceae in Vietnam

Abstract

The Araceae family in Vietnam is one of the most biologically diverse families of monocotyledonous plants in terms of species composition. In recent years, thanks to advancements in modern research methods and growing interest in native plant species, the number of Araceae species discovered and recorded in Vietnam has significantly increased. This article compiles and presents an updated checklist of 153 species belonging to 24 genera of the Araceae family, which have been identified and documented recently across various ecological regions of the country. All species are listed with their correct scientific names and the year of publication, ensuring both scientific accuracy and legal validity of the information. Compared to the Flora of Araceae published in 2017, this checklist includes many newly recorded and newly described species, making a valuable contribution to the improvement of the database of Araceae species in Vietnam. These findings not only enhance our understanding of the diversity within the Araceae family but also further affirm the richness and uniqueness of Vietnam’s flora.
