Relationship between BRAF V600E and some aggressive features in papillary thyroid carcinoma ≤1.5 cm

Abstract

Objectives: Determine the association between BRAF V600E mutation in papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC), small papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC 1-1.5 cm), with tumouraggressive characteristics. Subjects and methods: Retrospective descriptive study of 104 patients with PTMC diagnosed by histopathology and with BRAF V600E gene mutation testing results. Study subjects were divided into 2 groups: PTMC (tumour size ≤1.0 cm) and PTC 1-1.5 cm (tumour size 1-1.5 cm)
and evaluated aggressive features (macroscopic extrathyroidal invasion, lymph node metastasis, high-risk variants)...
