CURRENT STATUS OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS’ AWARENESS OF WASTE SORTING AT SOURCE IN HO CHI MINH CITY
Abstract
Household waste in big cities is a serious problem for the living environment and waste sorting at source is an effective measure to support the treatment of this problem. The role of students is very important to sort waste effectively, therefore this study investigates the current status of waste sorting at source of university students in Ho Chi Minh city. The article applies the theoretical research method, surveying students' opinions on the importance of waste sorting, the frequency of waste sorting, difficulties in waste sorting and treatment measures. The research results show that there is a high correlation between students' knowledge of waste sorting and the frequency of waste sorting at source. However, in reality, the level of waste sorting among students is not regular due to many difficulties from poor sort knowledge, facilities, current waste collection regulations, etc. From the above difficulties, the article has made three of recommendations such as strengthening propaganda, environmental protection education, improving facilities and increasing the application of digital technology to increase the efficiency of waste sorting at source nowadays.
