THE DAO ETHNIC GROUP’S BELIEFS OF ANCESTOR WORSHIP (THE CASE STUDY OF QUAN CHET DAO ETHNIC GROUP IN QUAN CHU COMMUNE, DAI TU DISTRICT, THAI NGUYEN PROVINCE)
Abstract
The belief of ancestor worship is a type of folk belief associated with cultural customs and morality on the beliefs basis that ancestors will protect and bless their descendants. Belief are expressed through worship rituals according to the conception, customs of each person, each family and each social community. The Quan Chet Dao ethnic group in Quan Chu commune, Dai Tu district, Thai Nguyen province as well as other ethnic groups, taking the ancestor worship as an important and to be the dominant factor in spiritual life. Today, the main unique features of the Dao ethnic group’s ancestor worship culture here are maintained.
