BROCADE WEAVING IN THE LIFE OF EDE PEOPLE IN DAK NONG PROVINCE

Abstract

Brocade weaving is considered a one of the traditional crafts of the Ede ethnic group in particular and of the ethnic minorities Dak Nong province in general and to be a secondary job in the economic activities of these ethnic groups. Products made to be used in the family or as gifts during festivals. Although being a secondary job, but weaving has been playing an important role in the economic, cultural and social life of Ede ethnic group in Dak Nong provice. To understand clearly this role, we conducted long-term work in the Ede community in Cu Jut district in 2018; observed at the families engaged in weaving; in-depth interviews with artisans, crafsmen and apprentives to learn about this role for the community.
