FEATURES OF THE REGION, RESIDENTS AND THERAVADA BUDDHISTS OF THE SOUTHWEST REGION - THE ISSUES RAISED TODAY
Abstract
The Southwest region is unique in terms of geography, population, and Khmer Buddhism. This is a fertile land deposited by the Mekong alluvium for thousands of years of history and has favorable natural conditions with tropical monsoon climate, fertile soil, very good for agriculture - forestry - fishery development. The natural resources here are diverse and plentiful, especially land, forest and aquatic resources. During the development of history, this land has attracted many flows of people to live, including residents from many regions of the country and residents from neighboring countries to live and settle down. Therefore, the in-depth study of the characteristics of the region, its inhabitants and the characteristics of Theravada Buddhism is meaningful for the thorough application to the process of implementing national and religious policies in this period and the following years..
