POLICIES FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF MARINE ECONOMY IN THE SOUTH CENTRAL COAST OF VIETNAM - SITUATION AND SOLUTIONS

Abstract

The South Central Coast region has a coastline of nearly 1,200 km
along with favorable natural conditions for the development of the
marine economy and the Vietnam Goverment has had some policies
to develop the marine economy in this region in a sustainable way.
However, these policies are not comprehensive, consistent and do
not create a favorable environment to develop the marine economy
in a sustainable way. This article explores the sustainable marine
economic development policies in the South Central Coast region in
recent times, analyzes the successes and limitations, thereby proposes
some solutions to improve efficiency of policies on developing the
marine economy towards sustainability in the South Central Coast
region in the coming time.
