Abstract
Lê Quang Định (1759-1813) meaning Tri Chỉ, alias Tấn Trai, originally from Tiên Nộn village, Phú Vang district, Triệu Phong town, Thuận Hóa province (now in Phú Mậu commune, Phú Vang district, Thừa Thiên Huế province), lived in Gia Định province, studied at Master with famous teacher Võ Trường Toản, befriended with gentlement Trịnh Hoài Đức and Ngô Nhân Tịnh, and was proclaimed the “Gia Định three families”. In August, the year of the Mậu Thân (1788), Nguyễn Phúc Ánh defeated Tây Sơn army, captured Gia Định province, he passed the exam, was appointed as a mandarin at the Academy, used to teach at the East Palace of Prince Cảnh. After the lord Nguyễn Vương restored this province and reunified the country, he was sent by the Mission to Qing to apply for a new Vietnamese title. Finished, he obeyed the mission to compile the Unified Hoàng Việt geography book. He also has created the book Hoa Nguyên poetry draft (poetry made when he went to Qing), and poetry printed together with two friends Trịnh Hoài Đức and Ngô Nhân Tịnh, publied in Poetry of Gia Định three families (Gia Định tam gia thi).
