Current situations and solutions for some medicinal plant species’ development in Phong Dien district, Thua Thien Hue province
Abstract
A diverse and rich natural forest and flora can be found in Phong Dien district, Thua Thien Hue province. However, this area’s medicinal plant resources are declining for a number of reasons, which must be assessed in order to develop some medicinal plant species for preservation and sustainable development. In this article, we have identified 526 species, 127 families belonging to 4 higher plant phyla and the compositional distribution of taxa is unequal. Among them, there are 27 medicinal species that are endangered, rare, and of high conservation value, 21 species have been recognized in the Vietnam Red Book, 2007; 7 species are listed in Decree 06/2019/ ND-CP and 7 species are listed in the IUCN Red List, 2022. Furthermore, in accordance with local development direction, the natural distribution and data related to several medicinal plants species have been discovered to meet the needs for their utilization and sustainable development.
