Abstract
The article compares the conceptual metaphor MARKET IS A MACHINE in English and Vietnamese economic articles to identify the similarities and differences in its use across the two languages. In this article, the metaphor MARKET IS A MACHINE is categorized into four sub-metaphors based on the mapping from the source domain MACHINE to the target domain MARKET. The four attributes of the source domain involved in the mapping process include machine parts, machine operations, machine malfunctions, and interactions with machines.
