Comparison of the main sound system of Nung Xuong with some Nung dialects in Vietnam

Abstract

This article is written with the purpose of comparing the main sound system of Nung Xuong with those of other Nung dialects in Vietnam on a synchronic level to highlight the similarities and differences. The survey results on the homogeneous and reciprocal correspondence between the main sound systems of Nung Xuong, Nung An and Nung Giang dialects show that the level of correspondence is not high and lack consistency which is not logical for the dialects of the same language. This once again raises the question posed in our previous comparison of the initial sound systems of Nung Xuong,  Nung An, and Nung Giang: Are these dialects really part of the same language subgroup and closely related?!
