Abstract

The linguistic landscape not only reflects the overall picture of a city’s socio-economic and cultural development in the context of integration and globalization but also reflects the language policy of a country. The way language is used reflects the ideology, values, inheritance and development. Researching the linguistic landscape can help gain a deeper understanding of the cultural and social change of the city. The article examines the process of changing the writing used on signs in Dong Hoi city, Quang Binh province, thereby pointing out the shortcomings and proposing solutions to preserve linguistic purity. Additionally, it explores strategies to protect the position of the Vietnamese language while contributing to the city's sustainable trade and tourism development, in alignment with provincial policies aimed at preserving and promoting cultural values.
