Abstract
Based on the theoretical framework of image grammar of Kress and Van Leeuwen and the theoretical framework of evaluative language of Martin & White, the article focuses on describing and discussing the characteristics of the visual and textual channels in their role of expressing the theme of the excerpt Ivory Comb (Literature Textbook 9, Volume 1, Canh Dieu series). Based on the findings, the article suggests the directions for applying multimodal texts to teaching Literature according to the requirements of the current General Education Program. This approach aims to enhance teaching effectiveness, while stimulating the interest and creativity of learners.
