Enhancing self-study through task-based learning method in the communicative Chinese Course at Thuongmai University

Abstract
Self-study is a critical factor in improving student learning outcomes. Therefore, building and expanding a self-study environments for students is one of the urgent solutions for educational institutions. The task-based teaching method is a novel one that meets the demands of language skill training and enhances students’ proactive ability by combining self-study and network study skills. In this article, we summarize the theoretical foundations of task-based teaching, describes its application in the “Communicative Chinese” course, and present the results achieved after the teaching. Based on these findings, we propose recommendations to improve the effectiveness of this method at Thuongmai University.
