On the phonological aspect of Tai-Kadai languages: Insights from foreign studies

Abstract
The Tai-Kadai language family comprises nearly 100 different languages, concentrated in Southeast Asia and southern China. The article deals with the up-to-date issues related to Tai-Kadai language family, with particular emphasis on phonological studies of Tai-Kadai languages in the world. Recent linguistic research has confirmed that the Tai-Kadai language family has had a big influence on other language families in Southeast Asia.
