Using different types of questions in teaching lesson texts in a basic Chinese language course for Vietnamese students

Abstract

Asking questions is a form of communication aimed at gathering information, resolving particular issues, and sometimes showing concern for others. Raising a question is a skill that involves the use of linguistic expressions designed to elicit responses from listeners . When a series of questions are formulated, they should be arranged logically with meaningful content to achieve high effectiveness. In teaching a foreign language, teachers pose questions for students to answer, and sometimes students may also raise questions for teachers or for other students themselves  to help learners grasp the knowledge of each lesson and enhance their skills. This article employs some research methods and techniques, including synthesis and analysis, to discuss types of questions and their application in teaching lesson texts in the basic Chinese language course designed for Vietnamese students.
