Language Attitudes toward the Use of Southern Vietnamese Dialect on Facebook

Abstract
This article explores the attitudes of Northern Vietnamese people toward the use of Southern dialect words on Facebook. Survey results indicate that respondents have differing attitudes toward various groups of Southern regional words appearing on the platform. The article also highlights differences in language attitudes across gender, age, and educational level. Specifically, men tend to have a more positive attitudes than women; while older and more educated individuals demonstrate better understanding but express less favorable evaluations compared to other groups.
