Abstract

Abstract: Trends in the development of criminal policy reflect the underlying
regularities in how such policy evolves. They carry significant methodological,
theoretical and practical implications and provide the foundation for formulating and
executing strategies for the development of criminal-justice legislation. In Vietnam,
these trends are shaped by diverse factors characteristic of the country’s new era of
development. This article examines the principal developmental trends in Vietnam’s
criminal policy within that context.
