Abstract
Abstract: The 1967 Outer Space Treaty is the central legal instrument governing
the exploration, exploitation and use of outer space, including the Moon and other
celestial bodies in the universe. Along with the remarkable development of space science
and technology, many States seek not only to exploit and use outer space, but also to
establish ownership over extracted space resources; however, such claims run counter
to the principles of international law and may give rise to conflicts of interest among
States. Therefore, strict compliance with national responsibilities and obligations and
the establishment of a general legal framework specifically regulating the exploitation
and use of space resources has become necessary and inevitable today, especially with
regard to the issue of establishing national ownership.
