Abstract

The article focused on clarifying the perspective of President Ho Chi Minh, the Party and the government towards the role of village elders who are prestigious in consolidating the great national unity. It once again emphasised that promoting the great national unity and the power of the country would be a lodestar for the success of all Vietnamese revolutions. These points are also clearly indicated by Uncle then inherited as well as utilised flexibly and properly by the Party and the government in the practical context in Vietnam. At the same time, the article also clarified the definition of some research tools including village elder, village head, reputable people, great national unity, the arbitrator… in order to feature the value of traditional institutions, thereby preserving and developing its value in the breakthrough era of the country.
