Postmodern imprints in Ho The Ha’s poetry

Abstract

Ho The Ha – a persistent poet with a journey of more than 30 years of composition, in which the journey of poetry is associated with the journey of research, critical theory and literary teaching. With lyrical works, the imprint of postmodernism has been clearly discovered in the past 10 years, when Ho The Ha composed poetry collections from “Tơ sương” (2015) to “Thẳm xa” (2024). On the basis of postmodern theory, we recognize three main dimensions in poetic characteristics: people with fluctuating attitudes, uncertain real worlds, and the breakdown of traditional poetic structures. With that 10-year poetry block, Ho The Ha has shown the relationship between the individual and the world, between poetry and reality, affirming his position in the process of modernization and innovation of contemporary Vietnamese poetry.
