Abstract

Culture is an invaluable asset, serving as the ideological and spiritual foundation of every nation and ethnicity. Preserving and promoting indigenous cultural values while selectively learning and accepting foreign cultures is the developmental path of every nation in its journey of “self-defense” and progression toward integration and globalization. Based on an examination and analysis of the history of foreign cultural reception and the reactions of indigenous people in Japan, South Korea, and some countries in Africa and the Middle East, this article offers several insights into the context and conditions of Vietnam's reception of Chinese, French, and Soviet cultures and the potential for cultural adapt
