THE CURRENT SITUATION OF TEACHING THE TOPIC “LUC BAT” POETRY IN GRADE 6 INTEGRATED WITH LOCAL EDUCATION CONTENT IN HANOI

Abstract

Integrated thematic teaching is a key orientation in the 2018 General Education Program, contributing to the comprehensive development of student competencies and connecting subject content with local realities. In Grade 6 Literature, “luc bat” poetry - a traditional Vietnamese verse form - has great potential for integrating local cultural elements. This paper investigates the current situation of organizing the teaching of “luc bat” poetry integrated with local education content in several lower secondary schools in Hanoi. The findings indicate that while teachers are aware of the importance of integrated teaching, they face challenges due to a lack of suitable teaching materials, limited capacity in designing integrated topics, and few opportunities for experiential learning. Based on these findings, the paper proposes five key solutions: developing teaching materials and a digital repository of Hanoi's cultural heritage; enhancing teachers’ competence in integrated instruction; strengthening connections between lessons and real cultural spaces; and applying educational technology in the teaching of poetry.
