DIMENSIONS OF CAREER GUIDANCE ACTIVITIES FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS: BRIDGING THEORY AND PRACTICE
Abstract
Career guidance plays an important role in supporting high school students to improve their ability to choose a career that suits their strengths, personal aspirations and the needs of the labor market. Choosing a career is considered one of the most important decisions in each individual's life, deeply affecting the quality of life, career development and job satisfaction in the future. Based on an overview of domestic and foreign studies, this article points out four core elements in career guidance activities for high school students: (1) the ability to access complete, accurate and updated career information; (2) a personalized and integrated career guidance approach in the curriculum; (3) the application of information and communication technology in career counseling; and (4) the connection between schools and businesses in providing practical career experiences. These factors are closely related and have a direct impact on the effectiveness of career guidance in high schools. This research uses the method of document analysis and synthesis of international experience to propose some orientations in career guidance activities for high school students in Vietnam today.
