Gen z literature – the voice of a generation emerging in the digital age
Abstract
Gen Z literature refers to the works created by and for the generation born and raised in the digital age (approximately 1997–2012). It represents the voice of a new generation, expressing personal concerns and aspirations while depicting a multidimensional picture of modern society. At its core, Gen Z literature highlights everyday life and individual emotions through a free, intimate, and humanistic style of writing. The rise of technology and social media has not only enabled Gen Z to disseminate their works more widely but also shaped new reading and writing habits, making literature a space for empathy, sharing, and creativity. This body of literature has begun to receive positive responses from readers, reflecting its vitality and increasing influence in contemporary Vietnamese literary life. Although facing challenges from globalization and the literary market, Gen Z writers are asserting their identities and opening new prospects, contributing to the shaping of Vietnamese literature in the 21st century.
