Some ethical aspects in school psychological counselling activities: a study at some high schools in Hanoi
Abstract
The study was conducted on the survey by asking 20 psychological consultants combined with in- depth interviews, studying cases at several high schools in Hanoi. The results showed that the majority of counselors are aware of imlementing professional ethics principles, especially the principles of information confidentiality and respect for student differences. Based on the ASCA code of ethics, there are still some ethical violations that can lead to psychological consequences and reduce students’ trust in psychological counseling activities. On that basic, it is proposed to strengthen training, coacching and professional supervision to standardize compliance with ethics, improve the quality and effectiveness of school psychological counselling work in schools.
