Developing exercises for the measurement topic in grade 3 mathematics (Ket noi tri thuc voi cuoc song textbook series)
Abstract
This study focuses on analyzing and evaluating the measurement-related exercises in the Grade 3 Mathematics, “ Ket noi tri thuc voi cuoc song” textbook series, while proposing differentiated supplementary exercises to enhance instructional effectiveness and develop students’ mathematical competence. The research focuses on constructing exercises for identifying quantities and measurement units for two student groups: Low to Average Students / Below-Average to Average Students and Above-Average to Excellent Students / High-Achieving Students. The exercises are designed to be visual, practical, and reasoning-oriented, thereby strengthening students’ knowledge and skills in measurement and fostering mathematical thinking. The findings indicate that supplementing exercises through differentiated instruction is necessary and practically meaningful in improving the quality of teaching the Measurement topic in primary education.
