STUDY OF JIN SHENGTAN’S NARRATIVE RECEPTANCE THOUGHT

Abstract

    While commenting on The story of the Water Margin and The Story of the West Chamber, Jin Shengtan tried his best to show the thought of narrative reception. This thought can be researched from three aspects: the purpose of literary criticism, the nature of narrative receptance, and the conditions for narrative receptance. Narrative receptance thought and receptional aesthetics have certain similarities. In this sense, his thought was ahead of its time.
